Keepin' it Real with Real World Learning
As educational leaders in the 21st century, it is our charge to cultivate authentic and engaging Real World Learning (RWL) opportunities with youth. In this workshop, we will explore the effort through the lens of Student Experience, responsive Program Management, and Assessment.
Drawing on the student-centered practices of el Centro's RWL program, we will delve into such topics as internship preparation and readiness, student engagement, real-world project work, program scaffolding, competencies and assessment, tech tools, staff training, and developing partnerships.
We will also identify common issues faced by proponents of Real World Learning, and collaboratively develop solutions that can be implemented across school environments.
