Changing School Discipline

Session 5
Micah Winterstein — Building 21 High School

We will discuss how we can create discipline systems, that teach students skills to help them navigate the world while still supporting teachers in the classroom. Educators will discuss how these practices can look, in a school, in a classroom, in one on one conversations or even in a larger context. The presenter and educators will share their experiences with discipline systems they have experienced and systems/ procedures they have tried to implement.

Conversational Practice

Educators will collaborate sharing ideas, experiences, and ideals crossing over grades and positions within a school. Through the varying activities, educators should be able to leave with a plan to either implement or present and idea to their school to further improve school discipline.
